Launchpad for Language in Early Years Settings

The ability  to use and understand language underpins all social interactions and many, many learning opportunities.  It is also a significant factor in a child’s emotional well being.  By promoting the communication skills of young children we can make a huge difference to their ability to make and maintain relationships, achieve in school and later in the work place and most importantly to their happiness.

‘Early Years Launchpad’ supports settings to create the best possible language learning environments. This can link in with your Early Years Pupil Premium funding.  We can help you show Ofsted how you are using the money to make a difference to your children.

The Early Years Launchpad for Language Project 2020/21

In 2020/21, our Launchpad for Language programme was delivered in 11 Private, Independent and Voluntary (PVI) nurseries, in collaboration with The Sutton Trust. The project aimed to address inequality in children’s early language and communication through providing professional development and support for Early Years Practitioners. We worked in collaboration with the children, staff and parents to ensure children were supported to reach their full communication potential right from the start! Following the intervention, 3 of our settings; Get Along Gang playgroup, Ihsan nursery and Castle View, have received accreditation for their setting as a Blast off: Communication Flagship setting! This means that they meet Launchpad for Language’s highest standards for a communication enriching environment. Congratulations to these settings, and to all our other settings for working so hard during an unpredictable and challenging year!
