Accessing Services

The Children’s Integrated Speech and Language Therapy Service for Hackney and The City is a provider service. All primary schools maintained by Hackney Learning Trust receive a core offer. Most schools also choose to commission further services from us. This includes the majority of Hackney secondary schools, academies, colleges and Pupil Referral Units.

The service operates a link therapist model. This means that a Speech and Language Therapist goes into the school regularly getting to know the school and the children. The amount varies according to the size, needs and the traded services commission.

For Hackney and The City schools, and for those from outside the borough who commission, there are details of the referral process as well as lots of resources in the secure area on this website. Your school SENCO will have details of the processes as well as being able to access the secure area. Please discuss all referrals with your school’s SENCO.

If the child or young person is a resident of Hackney or The City and no support is available from the local service then you may refer by either completing a  SLT Referral Form or writing a detailed letter to and emailing to us at huh-tr.sltinfo@nhs.net or posting it to:

Speech and Language Therapy, 3rd Floor, 6 Orsman Road, London N1 5QJ

If you are working in a school outside of Hackney and The City please check with your local borough to see if they are able to offer support. Additionally, please check out our traded services page to find out more about our traded services offer.
