The Children’s Integrated Speech and Language Therapy Service for Hackney and The City is a provider service. We accept commissions from a range of sources to provide comprehensive services. There are two categories of referral, below:
Children under 5 years old
If you are concerned about a child, complete our SLT Referral form and email it to us at hello@get-hackney-talking.local. The parent/carer will be invited to attend a Talking Walk-in session (appointment only) run by the Speech and Language Therapy Service. It is an informal play based session for children who are under 5 years old. It is the way that most families in Hackney first access Speech and Language Therapy.
Children and Young People aged 5 years and over
All primary schools maintained by Hackney Learning Trust receive a core offer. Most schools also choose to commission further services from us. This includes the majority of Hackney secondary schools, academies, colleges and Pupil Referral Units.
The service operates a link therapist model. This means that a Speech and Language Therapist comes into your school regularly getting to know your school and the children. The amount varies according to the size, needs and the traded services commission. To refer a child, over the age of 5, who attends a Hackney educational setting, speak with the school SENCO or school Link Speech and Language Therapist.
