Our Virtual Speech and Language Therapy service provides digital therapy and training to primary and secondary schools across the UK. In some parts of the country, speech and language therapy services are extremely limited and children and young people are missing out on vital support that they need. We are on a mission to improve the lives of all children and young people with speech, language and communication needs.
At Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we have a large team of skilled community Speech and Language Therapists (SaLTs) who work in education settings locally and across London. Over the last year, we have successfully delivered Speech and Language Therapy to children virtually via video at school and at home. Our virtual service aims to expand this to schools across the UK.
We offer a range of training sessions for education, health and social care staff. We have also developed a range of digital group interventions for children to be able to:
- Access regular Speech and Language Therapy delivered by a qualified therapist
- Meet peers with similar profiles
- Be supported by staff who embed strategies to support communication across the school day
- Access activities and consistent strategies for support at home
