The following training courses are run by trained Speech and Language Therapists via a live video session. Our training is aimed at education, health and social care staff. They are also relevant for Student Speech and Language Therapists, Speech and Language Therapy assistants and newly qualified therapists.
All our training includes a live video session with a Speech and Language Therapist, opportunities for questions and answers, training slides and other resources if applicable.
If you are a Hackney or London school who already accesses our Speech and Language Therapy service, please contact your link therapist if you are interested in any of these training sessions as they can be included as part of your traded service.
Communication Friendly Nursery
A communication friendly environment is one that promotes and supports children’s language and communication skills. This course will help you to think about your early years environment and how to make it as communication friendly as possible for all children, whatever their level of communication.

Working with deaf children and young people
Deafness is low in incidence but high in need. This session is for all teaching and support staff in primary and secondary school settings. The session will describe the different levels of deafness, hearing amplification, and how to achieve a deaf-friendly classroom. The session will also showcase some popular speech and language therapies used with deaf children throughout the years.

Word Aware
Word Aware is a whole school approach for teaching vocabulary to every child. This training explains the importance of teaching vocabulary for all children, and details a specific approach for selecting, teaching and reviewing vocabulary that teachers can incorporate into their lessons every day. It shares fun games and activities and provides practical advice for setting up Word Aware as a whole school approach for enhancing vocabulary knowledge. This training is delivered by an accredited Word Aware trainer.
